Scholarship Name: The Project Yellow Light Scholarship Competition
Scholarship Information: In memory of Hunter Garner, The Project Yellow Light Scholarship Competition was founded with the intention to bring about change, with a focused mission to encourage students to develop and embrace safe driving habits and share these ideas with their peers. The scholarship competition is open to both graduating high school seniors and full-time college students. Students under 18 years of age, must have a parent or legal guardian sign an eligibility form. There is no GPA requirement or financial need requirement for this scholarship opportunity. Applicants will be asked to create a short PSA video (25 to 55 seconds) designed to motivate and encourage their peers to not drive distracted. Videos can be of yourself, a group of people, an animation, a music video, or other creative ideas, as long as it is kept within the given time limit. All eligible submissions will be judged on: the ability to capture the attention of others, the video’s ability to resonate with teens and move them to action, the clarity of the message, creative expression, and production quality. The winning video will be turned into an Ad Council PSA and will be distributed nationally to 1,600 TV stations. In addition, the first-place winner will receive a college scholarship in the amount of $5,000. The second-place winner will receive a college scholarship of $2,000, and the third-place winner will receive a college scholarship of $1,000.
