The 4-H Youth in Action Scholarship Program is a premier leadership and scholarship opportunity designed to recognize outstanding 4-H members who are making a meaningful impact in their communities. This program highlights youth leaders who demonstrate excellence in areas such as agriculture, civic engagement, healthy living, and STEM, while sharing how 4-H has shaped their personal and professional growth.

Each year, selected participants are named national 4-H Youth in Action Award winners and receive a $5,000 scholarship to support their higher education. In addition to financial support, winners participate in a year-long leadership development experience that includes media training, networking opportunities, and national exposure as spokespersons for the 4-H organization.

Participants gain valuable experience in storytelling, public speaking, and advocacy while representing 4-H on a national stage. Even applicants who are not selected as finalists benefit from professional development opportunities, including media and interview training.

  • Complete the official 4-H Youth in Action online application
  • Submit information about 4-H involvement and leadership experience
  • Provide a personal impact story highlighting community contributions
  • Submit any required supporting materials, such as essays or references

Additional Details:

  • Four national award winners are selected annually
  • All applicants receive media and storytelling training
  • Participants may be included in the national 4-H story database
  • Winners receive an official reference letter from National 4-H Council leadership
