Name: AABP Foundation Education Grants
Award Amount: $1,000 per recipient
Information And Eligibility:
The AABP Foundation Education Grants are designed to support advanced educational opportunities in cattle production medicine for veterinary students and recent graduates who are preparing to enter bovine-focused practice. Formal training beyond the core veterinary curriculum plays a critical role in developing the clinical, analytical, and management skills required for modern cattle production medicine. In support of this need, the AABP Foundation offers Education Grants to help reduce financial barriers for individuals pursuing approved advanced education programs.
The grants are intended for incoming or current senior veterinary students, as well as AABP members who are within one year of graduation from veterinary school. Funding may be used for advanced education programs offered through accredited veterinary colleges or for other continuing education opportunities that have been approved by the AABP. These programs are expected to enhance the applicant’s knowledge and practical competencies in food animal or bovine production medicine.
Applicants must be members or student members of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners. Because new memberships may take several business days to process, applicants are encouraged to confirm that their AABP membership status is current well in advance of submitting an application. The Education Grant program is competitive, and awards are based on the applicant’s career goals, prior experience in food animal production medicine, and the relevance of the proposed educational activity to bovine practice.
Certain activities do not qualify for funding under this program. Conferences, including AABP conferences, are not eligible for support. Externships at private practices are also excluded unless they have been previously approved; students seeking funding for externships should instead apply through the AABP externship grant program. Internships in which participants receive compensation are likewise not eligible for funding through the Education Grant program.
