Information and Eligibility:
The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation provides scholarships each year to students pursuing careers in nutrition and dietetics, including those focusing on public health and community nutrition. These funds support a range of educational paths—from undergraduate and supervised practice programs to graduate and doctoral work—all designed to advance the profession’s role in promoting population health and equitable access to nutrition services.
Eligibility criteria include:

  • Enrollment/Acceptance: Applicants must be accepted or currently enrolled in an accredited U.S. regionally-accredited nutrition or dietetics program (bachelor’s, graduate, doctoral, dietetic internship, or dietetic technician program).
  • Field of Study: Major or professional goals must relate to nutrition, dietetics, or public health nutrition practice and the applicant must intend to work in the field.
  • Membership/Preference: Preference is given to members of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and affiliation with dietetic practice groups; although Academy membership is not strictly required to apply, it is strongly encouraged.

Application Requirements:

  • Complete the online centralized scholarship application provided by the Foundation (one submission for multiple funds).
  • Provide academic transcripts (official or unofficial) from all higher-education institutions attended.
  • Submit résumé or curriculum vitae detailing education, work/volunteer experience, and leadership activities in nutrition or public health.
  • Include a personal statement or essay describing your professional goals, your interest in public health nutrition, how you plan to contribute to community health, and how the scholarship will support your career path.
  • Include two letters of recommendation (academic and/or professional) as required by the individual fund criteria.

Selection Criteria:

  • Academic achievement and demonstration of readiness for further study in nutrition, dietetics or public health nutrition.
  • Commitment to serving underserved populations, improving nutrition equity, or engaging in public-health nutrition practice.
