Aloha Scholarship

Name: Aloha Scholarship

Award Amount: $500 each (two awards available)

Information And Eligibility:
The Aloha Scholarship is a trade-focused academic award offered through the Public Education Foundation Scholarships Plus program, administered via the AcademicWorks portal. This scholarship is designed to support graduating high school seniors in Clark County, Nevada who are planning to pursue post-secondary education or training in vocational, trade, or technical programs at accredited institutions. It reflects the foundation’s commitment to recognizing students who have practical career ambitions and who intend to enter the workforce with job-relevant skills after high school.

Two scholarships of $500 each are awarded annually to eligible students. Unlike many traditional academic scholarships that center primarily on college degrees, this scholarship specifically encourages students who are pursuing trade or vocational pathways — such as apprenticeships, technical certificates, skilled construction trades, automotive technology, electrical or HVAC training, welding, or other hands-on technical programs. By providing financial support for students on non-traditional education paths, the Aloha Scholarship helps reduce barriers to entry for careers that are in high demand and that contribute to robust local economies.

Applicants are evaluated based on academic performance, demonstrated interest in trade or technical fields, career clarity, and personal goals related to vocational training. Students who articulate strong motivation for their chosen trade and who show commitment through relevant coursework, extracurricular participation, employment, or community contributions often present competitive applications. The scholarship also encourages personal reflection on how vocational training aligns with the student’s long-term goals and how the award will support their successful transition into post-secondary technical education.

Award funds may be used toward education-related expenses directly connected to the student’s post-secondary trade training. This includes tuition, fees, textbooks, tools, equipment, or other materials required for the student to gain essential skills and succeed in their chosen profession.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a graduating high school senior who resides in Clark County, Nevada.
  • Must plan to enroll in a trade, vocational, technical training program, community college, or post-secondary institution.
  • Must demonstrate a clear career pathway in a vocational or technical field.
  • Must meet any GPA or application criteria specified by the foundation.

Application Requirements:

  • Completed scholarship application through the Public Education Foundation Scholarships Plus portal.
  • Official high school transcript.
  • Essay or personal statement describing career goals and interest in trade or vocational education.
  • Documentation of intended vocational program or post-secondary enrollment plan.
  • Letters of recommendation or references if requested.
