The American Holistic Veterinary Medical Foundation (AHVMF) Student Grants & Endowed Scholarships are designed to support veterinary students who are interested in learning more about holistic and integrative approaches to veterinary medicine. These awards are intended to help cover the costs associated with attending the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association Annual Conference, where students can expand their knowledge of integrative care models that complement conventional veterinary practice.
Scholarship funds are specifically designated to support student attendance at the AHVMA Annual Conference held in San Diego, California. The conference provides veterinary students with educational exposure to holistic and integrative veterinary medicine, including nutrition, acupuncture, homeopathy, chiropractic care, herbal medicine, and other alternative modalities. Through lectures, workshops, and networking opportunities, students gain insight into how integrative approaches can enhance patient outcomes and broaden clinical decision-making.
AHVMF offers multiple named awards under this program, including the AHVMF Student Education Grant, AHVMF Student Research Grant, Lorraine Tiekert Endowed Scholarship, Sharon Willoughby-Blake Grant, Standard Process Grant, and the Richard Palmquist Student Education Grant. While students may apply for more than one award, recipients may receive only one award in a given calendar year and may not receive the same award more than once in future years.
Recipients are required to attend at least two days of the AHVMA Annual Conference and assist in the AHVMF booth during the event. Scholarship funds may be used for conference-related expenses, including registration, travel, lodging, and shared housing arrangements. Winners are selected based on the strength of their written application and demonstrated interest in holistic veterinary medicine.
