The Aysen Tunca Memorial Scholarship supports female undergraduate students majoring in STEM fields who demonstrate exceptional academic potential. Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must identify as female or belong to underrepresented gender identities in STEM fields.
  • Must be an undergraduate student majoring in physics, STEM, or related disciplines at an accredited institution.
  • Exhibit strong academic performance in coursework related to their field of study.
  • Preference is given to students from disadvantaged backgrounds or first-generation college students.
  • Must be a member of the Society of Physics Students (SPS) national organization.

Application Requirements:

  • Complete the Aysen Tunca Memorial Scholarship application online through the SPS portal.
  • Provide a personal statement that includes:
    • Your academic achievements and career goals in STEM.
    • Challenges or barriers you have faced in your educational journey and how you overcame them.
    • How this scholarship will contribute to your academic success and future aspirations.
  • Submit an official transcript showcasing completed and planned coursework in STEM-related subjects.
  • Two letters of recommendation:
    • One from an SPS advisor or faculty member familiar with your academic performance and leadership qualities.
    • One from another faculty member or mentor who can attest to your potential and dedication to your field of study.
  • Certification from the Department Chair confirming your academic standing and progress toward a degree.

Application Timeline:

  • Application Opens: January 2.
  • Application Deadline: March 15.
  • Award Notification: Winners are announced by late spring.
