The Benacquisto Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to National Merit Scholars who choose to attend eligible Florida public or private postsecondary institutions. This prestigious scholarship is designed to attract and retain top-performing students in the state of Florida by fully covering the cost of attendance.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Residency: Must be a Florida resident and U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen.
  • National Merit Scholar Status: Must be designated as a National Merit Scholar by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
  • Enrollment: Must enroll full-time in an eligible Florida public or private postsecondary institution in the academic year following high school graduation.
  • High School Graduation: Must graduate from a Florida high school or meet equivalent standards if home-schooled or attending an out-of-state high school.

Selection Criteria:

  • Recognition as a National Merit Scholar.
  • Commitment to enrolling full-time at an eligible institution in Florida.
  • Academic achievements and readiness for rigorous college coursework.

Application Requirements:

  • Submit the Florida Financial Aid Application (FFAA) by August 31 following high school graduation.
  • Provide proof of National Merit Scholar status from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
  • Enroll in an eligible Florida institution and maintain full-time status.

Additional Information:

  • Students attending private institutions will receive an award equal to the highest cost of attendance at a public university in Florida.
  • Recipients must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 and earn at least 12 credit hours per term to remain eligible.
  • This scholarship is renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study.
