Award Amount:

• Annual awards of $12,000, $8,000, $5,000, or $3,000, based on the student’s cumulative unweighted high school GPA and optional ACT/SAT test scores.

Overview:
The Brown and Gold Commitment is a merit-based financial pledge designed to support first-time, non-resident freshman students at the University of Wyoming. This program offers varying levels of financial assistance to academically talented students, aiming to make higher education more accessible and affordable for those coming from outside Wyoming. The commitment is funded through the generosity of UW Foundation donors and institutional aid.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Must be a first-time, non-resident freshman student admitted to the University of Wyoming.
• Evaluation is based on cumulative unweighted high school GPA and optional ACT/SAT test scores:
  • Students who do not submit test scores will be considered under the test-optional criteria.
  • Students who submit test scores will be evaluated to determine if both GPA and test scores qualify them for a higher award tier.

Application Requirements:

• Apply for admission to the University of Wyoming and submit the non-refundable $40 application fee.
• Provide official high school transcripts.
• Submit ACT/SAT test scores if available; otherwise, students will be considered under the test-optional criteria.
• Complete the general application and any applicable recommended applications within WyoScholarships to finalize the award.

Application Timeline:

• Enrollment Confirmation Deadlines:
  • May 1, 11:59 p.m. MDT – for students beginning in the fall semester.
  • January 5, 11:59 p.m. MST – for students beginning in the spring semester.

Renewal Requirements:

• Maintain a 3.0 cumulative UW GPA (evaluated at the end of each spring semester).
• Maintain full-time continuous enrollment (a minimum of 12 semester hours) during the fall and spring semesters, with successful completion of a minimum of 24 credit hours each academic year.
• The Brown and Gold Commitment is renewable for up to 8 semesters (4 academic years) or until the completion of the first bachelor’s degree, whichever comes first.

Additional Information:

• The Brown and Gold Commitment cannot typically be combined with additional institutional scholarship aid, including those made possible by the University of Wyoming Foundation.
• All University of Wyoming financial awards are subject to available funding and the approval of the UW Board of Trustees, who reserve the right to change rates at any time.
