The Citizens for Global Solutions Scholarship Contest is a creative, advocacy-driven scholarship opportunity designed to engage students in promoting global cooperation, diplomacy, and human rights. Offered by Citizens for Global Solutions—a long-standing nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C.—the contest challenges participants to use digital media to help raise awareness about the organization’s mission: fostering international collaboration to address some of the world’s most urgent issues, including climate change, conflict prevention, poverty, global health, and human rights protection.
Applicants are asked to produce an original 30–45 second video that highlights or supports the organization’s core message. Videos can take many different creative directions, including animation, live action, narration, or motion graphics, as long as they are original and communicate the theme clearly. Submissions should focus on inspiring others to think globally and act collaboratively, reflecting the belief that major international challenges require unified and cooperative solutions.
One of the most inclusive aspects of this scholarship is its eligibility scope — the contest is open to both U.S. and non-U.S. residents, making it accessible for students around the world. Participants under age 18 must submit a signed parent or guardian permission form alongside their video entries. Every submission is evaluated by staff members at the Citizens for Global Solutions national office, who judge entries on creativity, clarity of message, originality, and adherence to the assignment guidelines.
Scholarship awards are distributed to the top three video submissions:
First Place: $600 scholarship
Second Place: $400 scholarship
Third Place: $200 scholarship
These awards may be used toward tuition, educational supplies, or other school-related expenses. Beyond the monetary award, the contest provides students with an opportunity to build communication and media skills while advocating for positive global change.
