Information And Eligibility:
The Denver Foundation Community Scholarship supports first-generation, economically disadvantaged students pursuing post-secondary education in Colorado. The foundation is committed to racial equity and believes in the transformative power of education.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • First-generation college students who are economically disadvantaged.
  • Planning to enroll or currently enrolled in a Colorado-accredited, nonprofit, post-secondary educational institution.
  • Demonstrate economic hardship through completion of the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), CAFSA (Colorado Application for State Financial Aid), or an additional financial need-specific questionnaire.
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.25 or higher.
  • Demonstrate community involvement through work and/or volunteering.

Selection Criteria:

  • Academic performance.
  • Resilience and persistence.
  • Community service involvement.
  • Leadership qualities.
  • Work experience.

Application Requirements:

  • Resume.
  • Transcript.
  • Proof of financial need.
  • Two essays:
    • Describe your intended field of study, the inspiration behind your interest, and your goals with this degree.
    • Explain how you demonstrate leadership in your daily life and activities.

Additional Information:

  • Recipients receive a one-time scholarship award of $5,000.
  • Funds can be used for tuition, fees, books, room and board, and other educational expenses.
  • Scholarships are paid directly to the recipient’s institution and must be used for the upcoming academic year.
  • Previous recipients are encouraged to reapply in subsequent years; renewal is not automatic.
