Name: DirectTextbook.com Back To School Scholarship
Award Amount: $500
Information And Eligibility:
The DirectTextbook.com Back to School Scholarship is one of the most creative and accessible scholarship opportunities available to college students. Designed to celebrate the excitement and transition of the back-to-school season, this scholarship invites applicants to express themselves through a traditional haiku poem—three lines capturing a moment, feeling, or reflection in 17 syllables. DirectTextbook.com created this contest as a fun way to support students while encouraging them to engage in creative writing, self-expression, and reflection on their academic journeys.
Each year, three winners are selected to receive a $500 scholarship award. What makes this scholarship particularly engaging is that winners are selected in three different ways: one winner chosen directly by the DirectTextbook.com judging team, one winner chosen by public vote for the most popular haiku, and one winner selected at random from all qualifying entries. This format ensures that students with a wide range of writing skill levels have an opportunity to win—whether through creativity, community support, or luck.
To be eligible, applicants must be high school graduates who are enrolled in an accredited two- or four-year college or university for the upcoming Fall term. This includes students attending public universities, private institutions, or community colleges. All applicants must also be legal U.S. residents and must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. Because the contest requires only a haiku and minimal personal information, it is an appealing option for students who want a simple, low-effort scholarship with real rewards.
In addition to the haiku submission, applicants may be encouraged to share their work to gather votes for the “most popular” category. The haiku must be original, written by the applicant, and must relate in some way to the theme of going back to school—whether academically, emotionally, or personally. This scholarship is ideal for creative thinkers, poetry lovers, or anyone who enjoys easy entry contests with the potential for meaningful financial assistance.
