The Dr Pepper Tuition Giveaway Scholarship is one of the most recognized and impactful tuition competitions in the United States. For more than a decade, Dr Pepper has awarded over one million dollars annually to help students reduce or eliminate the financial burden of higher education. Unlike traditional scholarships, this program is centered around a highly creative and engaging selection process that rewards authenticity, passion, and personal storytelling.
Students enter by submitting a short video—up to one minute long—describing why they deserve tuition assistance and how winning would help them achieve their academic and career goals. Dr Pepper looks for compelling stories, clear goals, originality, and a strong personal connection to education or community impact. From video submissions, a pool of winners is selected to receive $2,500 in tuition support. A smaller group of exceptional entrants advance to compete for life-changing awards of up to $123,000.
Finalists participate in an on-field competition during halftime of the College Conference Championship Football Game, where they aim to score the most points by successfully tossing footballs into oversized Dr Pepper cans. This unique combination of creativity, personal storytelling, and live competition makes the Dr Pepper Tuition Giveaway stand out as one of the most exciting scholarship opportunities available.
Scholarship funds are paid directly to each winner’s accredited college, university, or vocational school.
