Dr. Seuss College Scholarship Program

Name: Dr. Seuss College Scholarship Program

Award Amount: $10,000

Information And Eligibility:
The Dr. Seuss College Scholarship Program—also known as the Oh, the Places You’ll Go! Scholarship, offers high school seniors the opportunity to earn a $10,000 college scholarship by demonstrating creativity, inspiration, and strong writing ability. Presented by Random House, Inc. in partnership with the Dr. Seuss Estate, this scholarship encourages students to reflect on the themes of Dr. Seuss’s iconic book *Oh, the Places You’ll Go!* and apply those ideas in a meaningful way.

Applicants must submit an original letter written to someone they personally know—someone who could benefit from encouragement or motivation. The letter should draw inspiration from the themes of the book, such as perseverance, self-belief, facing life’s challenges, or embracing new opportunities. Judges evaluate submissions based on creativity, technical writing strength, originality, and how clearly the piece reflects the spirit of Dr. Seuss’s message.

Only high school seniors who are 21 years old or younger may apply. Employees or family members of Random House, Bertelsmann, or their affiliates are not eligible. Submissions must meet all composition guidelines and clearly illustrate how the student used Oh, the Places You’ll Go! as the foundation for their letter.

  • Must be a high school senior, age 21 or under.
  • Submission must be an original letter inspired by *Oh, the Places You’ll Go!* written to someone the applicant personally knows.
  • Must demonstrate originality, creativity, and strong writing ability.
  • Family members or employees of Bertelsmann, Random House, Inc., or affiliated companies are not eligible.

Application Requirements:

  • Write and submit an original inspirational letter connected to the themes of Oh, the Places You’ll Go!.
  • Follow all formatting, length, and submission guidelines set by the scholarship committee.
