The Flashcard Scholarship is one of the most unique and easy scholarship opportunities available to students at any academic level. High-school students, college students and graduate students are all eligible to participate. Instead of submitting an essay or traditional application materials, students compete by creating a short, entertaining video that shows the most creative way to destroy or “get rid of” their old paper flashcards.
The challenge is meant to be fun, lighthearted and accessible to any student with a smartphone and an imagination. Videos can be humorous, dramatic, artistic or completely unexpected—the goal is simply to be original and creative. Once submitted, videos are posted publicly, and applicants are encouraged to share them widely to gather views and positive ratings. At the end of the contest period, the winning video is chosen based on creativity, number of views and overall rating.
