Financial Connects Scholarship

Name: The Financial Connects Scholarship

Award Amount: $5000

Information And Eligibility:
The Financial Connects Scholarship, created by Net Literacy, is a hands-on and creative scholarship opportunity designed to promote financial literacy among students while rewarding innovative and educational digital content. This scholarship challenges high school and college students to produce original financial literacy videos or interactive games based on one of the official financial literacy standards provided on the Net Literacy website. By combining creativity with real-world financial knowledge, the program aims to help students build important communication and digital production skills while educating their peers.

To begin the application process, students must first review the list of financial literacy standards and select one as the foundation of their project. Applicants are required to draft a brief 2–3 sentence outline that explains their planned creative approach—such as animation, live action, game design, or storytelling—and email it, along with the selected financial literacy standard, to Net Literacy. This step ensures that the category is still open and allows applicants to receive feedback before moving forward with full production.

Once approved, applicants may proceed to create their video or game. Videos should be approximately 2–3 minutes in length and must clearly communicate the chosen financial literacy concept in a way that is engaging, educational, and accessible to a broad audience. Games should be user-friendly, interactive, and designed to reinforce financial learning through gameplay. Submissions may incorporate humor, real-life examples, visual modeling, budgeting simulations, or any other creative approach that effectively communicates financial principles.

The Financial Connects Scholarship is open to all high school and college students, giving both younger learners and postsecondary students an opportunity to demonstrate their creative and educational abilities. Submissions are judged based on creativity, clarity, educational value, originality, and overall production quality. Award amounts vary, with top projects receiving up to $5,000 in college scholarship funds.

This scholarship is especially well-suited for students interested in video production, digital storytelling, game design, personal finance, or educational media. It provides an excellent opportunity to build a portfolio-worthy project while competing for significant scholarship funds.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Open to all high school and college students.
  • Must select a financial literacy standard provided by Net Literacy.
  • Must submit a 2–3 sentence creative approach outline for approval before producing the full project.
  • Videos must be approximately 2–3 minutes long; games must align with the chosen standard.

Application Requirements:

  • Select a financial literacy standard from the official list.
  • Email your selected standard and 2–3 sentence creative approach outline to Net Literacy for approval.
  • Produce and submit an original video or interactive game based on the approved concept.
  • Ensure your submission is educational, accurate, and creatively engaging.
