The Gary Jenkins Memorial Scholarship supports nurse anesthesia students who wish to attend the AANA Mid-Year Assembly in Washington, DC. Sponsored by the Kentucky Association of Nurse Anesthetists (KyANA), this scholarship honors the legacy of Gary Jenkins, CRNA, and is designed to foster early engagement in federal advocacy and professional leadership among future CRNAs.
The AANA Mid-Year Assembly is the largest advocacy-focused event in nurse anesthesia, offering participants hands-on opportunities to meet with lawmakers, advocate for CRNA practice rights, and engage with leaders from across the country. Through this scholarship, KyANA enables students to participate in this high-impact experience while building skills in leadership, policy, and professional representation.
Applicants must submit a short essay of at least three paragraphs describing the benefits of attending the Mid-Year Assembly and how participation will support their professional development. Eligibility is limited to anesthesia students with strong ties to Kentucky, as defined by residency, licensure, and clinical placement criteria.
The event takes place from April 24 to April 29, and scholarship recipients will have the opportunity to participate directly in Capitol Hill advocacy activities alongside practicing CRNAs and national leaders.
