Hubertus W. V. Willems Scholarship

Name: The Hubertus W. V. Willems Scholarship for Male Students

Award Amount: $3,000

Information and Eligibility:
The Hubertus W. V. Willems Scholarship for Male Students is a distinguished award offered through the NAACP’s Inspire Initiatives program. It is designed to provide meaningful financial support to exceptional Black male students who are pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Through this scholarship, the NAACP seeks to advance its mission of fostering educational equity, leadership, and empowerment among African American students, ensuring that they have access to the resources and opportunities needed to thrive in higher education and beyond.

This scholarship honors Hubertus W. V. Willems, a philanthropist who dedicated his life to supporting academic advancement and equality for African Americans. The Willems Scholarship supports students whose academic and professional aspirations align with fields that have historically lacked adequate representation by Black men—specifically engineering, chemistry, physics, and mathematical sciences. By providing this financial assistance, the NAACP helps ensure that recipients can focus on developing the expertise and leadership skills necessary to become innovators and changemakers within their professions.
