Name: Irene and Daisy MacGregor Memorial Scholarship
Award Amount: Varies
Information And Eligibility:
The Irene and Daisy MacGregor Memorial Scholarship is offered by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) to support students of strong academic ability and character who are pursuing advanced education in the medical field. This scholarship honors the legacy of Irene and Daisy MacGregor by recognizing individuals who demonstrate dedication to patient care, academic excellence, and professional integrity.
This scholarship is awarded to students who have been accepted into or are currently enrolled in an approved and accredited medical school with the goal of becoming a medical doctor. Programs such as pre-medicine, veterinary medicine, and physician assistant studies are not eligible. In addition to medical students, the scholarship also extends support to graduate-level students pursuing psychiatric nursing at accredited medical schools, colleges, or universities, reflecting the program’s recognition of the importance of mental health care within the medical community.
The scholarship may be awarded to two recipients, and renewal is possible provided recipients continue to meet academic requirements. Continued eligibility is based on maintaining a strong academic record and meeting the minimum grade point average threshold. Preference may be given to female applicants when candidates are otherwise equally qualified, consistent with the historical intent of the scholarship.
The Irene and Daisy MacGregor Memorial Scholarship is designed to ease the financial burden of rigorous medical and graduate nursing education while encouraging recipients to remain committed to high standards of professionalism and service. By supporting both medical doctors and psychiatric nursing professionals, the scholarship acknowledges the diverse roles required to meet complex patient needs across physical and mental health care settings.
Applicants are encouraged to demonstrate not only academic achievement but also a clear commitment to the values of compassion, ethical practice, and lifelong learning. The selection process considers scholastic standing as well as the applicant’s potential to contribute meaningfully to the medical or nursing profession.
Eligibility Requirements:
This scholarship offers meaningful financial support while reinforcing the importance of academic discipline, service, and leadership in healthcare professions.
