The James Smithson Fellowship invites applications with the theme of “Migration,” encompassing topics ranging from the movement of species to the diaspora of humans. Migration is central to evolutionary dynamics, ecosystems, and cultural identity, making it a rich topic to explore across multiple disciplines, including art, history, culture, and science.
The fellowship offers early-career postdoctoral researchers the chance to engage with Smithsonian experts and collections, while exploring how their research fits within broader societal and policy contexts.
