The James W. Lewis Global Leader Scholarship, established by the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS), aims to recognize young leaders who embody values such as diversity, inclusion, educational opportunity, leadership, community engagement, global perspective, innovation, and entrepreneurship. This scholarship is available to NSHSS members graduating high school in the specified years.

Eligibility criteria include:

• Membership: Must be an NSHSS member.
• Graduation Year: Open to students graduating high school in the specified years.
• Academic Excellence: Minimum GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Application Process
To apply for the James W. Lewis High School Global Leader Scholarship, applicants must submit the following materials:

• Essay Response: A 500-800 word essay addressing the prompt: “Mr. Lewis has an overriding philosophy: ‘The future of our planet depends on how we prepare the world’s youth. Let them dream, explore, and achieve for the betterment of themselves and the global community.’ How do you embody this philosophy? Which of Mr. Lewis’s values do you best embody and demonstrate? Please provide specific examples of each.”
• Optional Media: Pictures, videos, or other media showcasing your leadership in action.
• Headshot: A color photograph suitable for website posting.
• Resume: An academic resume detailing relevant experiences and achievements.
• Transcript: A current academic transcript (official or unofficial).
• Recommendation Letter: A letter of recommendation from an educator endorsing your qualifications.
