Information And Eligibility: The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences is offering two college scholarships in memory of legendary television broadcasters, Jim McKay and Mike Wallace. The $10,000 college scholarships will be awarded to the best candidates, based on the strength of the applicants overall application and creative work. To apply, applicants must be current high school seniors who plan to pursue a communications-related baccalaureate degree and plan to have a career in any aspect of the television industry.
All eligible individuals must submit their current GPA and College Board scores (SAT or ACT), examples of recent creative works, including links (if available), examples of recent field or work experience, and a list of school activities that they have participated in. Students will also be required to submit two short essays on the following topics: 1. Career Aspirations Essay, which will be a single-page essay that describes what you would like to do upon graduation from high school. Include which post-secondary schools you would like to attend, as well as the type of employment you hope to obtain once you have completed your college education. 2. Creative Essay, a two-page (maximum) essay on which past or present television program has most influenced your life and why. The NATAS Scholarship Committee will review all qualified applications, and select the college-bound applicant who best displays exceptional creative talent and outstanding academic achievement.
