Participants submit innovative savory or sweet recipes designed to address one or more critical food-system challenges (such as reducing food waste, sustainability, nutrition outcomes, alternative ingredients).
Eligibility criteria include:

  • Academic Level: U.S. high-school seniors or transfer students who have applied to or deposited at JWU and intend to enroll full-time in one of the eligible undergraduate programs.

Application Requirements:

  • Submit a complete JWU admission application for the eligible program (if not already admitted).
  • Provide a detailed recipe or concept for a dish (savory or sweet) that addresses a defined food-system challenge and includes supporting explanation or essay.

  • Flavor quality, execution of the dish, presentation, technique and market relevance.
  • Clarity of writing and conceptual explanation in the submission materials.

  • The competition culminates with finalists presenting their dishes for real-time judging at JWU’s campus kitchen facilities.
