Name: Teacher Scholarship Program (Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority)

Award Amount: Up to $3,000 per fall and spring semester; $2,000 for summer term

Information and Eligibility:
The Teacher Scholarship Program, administered by the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA), provides financial assistance to Kentucky students pursuing teacher certification at participating Kentucky colleges and universities. The program aims to increase the number of qualified teachers in Kentucky’s public and private schools by supporting both new teacher candidates and current educators seeking additional certification.

Eligibility criteria include:

  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Residency: Must be a legal resident of Kentucky.
  • Enrollment Status: Must meet one of the following:
    • Be admitted to a teacher education program leading to initial certification at a participating Kentucky institution, or
    • Be a certified teacher (primary through grade 12) pursuing additional certification for classroom teaching.
  • Financial Need: Must demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA.
  • Academic Progress: Must meet the satisfactory academic progress requirements of the enrolled institution.
  • Service Obligation: Recipients must agree to teach one semester at a Kentucky public or certified non-public school for each semester the scholarship is received.
  • Repayment Clause: Recipients who fail to complete the teacher education program or required teaching service must repay the scholarship amount plus interest.

Application Requirements:

  • Complete the Teacher Scholarship Application through the MyKHEAA online portal.
  • Submit the FAFSA.
