• At least one $2,000 scholarship awarded annually.

Information and Eligibility:
Established in 2003 by Samaritan Health Services of Corvallis, Oregon, this endowed scholarship honors Dr. Larry A. Mullins upon completion of his Doctor of Health Administration (DHA). Administered by the Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation, the scholarship supports students pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees in healthcare-related fields.

Special consideration is given to applicants who:

• Are currently employed in the healthcare field;
• Are members or veterans of the U.S. military (veterans must provide a DD-214 Form 4);
• Commit to practicing in Oregon;
• Attend one of the following institutions: Linn-Benton Community College, Oregon State University, or Western University of Health Sciences—COMP NW.

The scholarship is granted without regard to race, religion, national origin, gender, age, color, disability, or marital status.
Application Process
Applicants must submit the following in PDF format via email:

• Personal essay: Up to 500 words—explain your career goals in healthcare (e.g., administration, nursing, medicine) and how you hope to contribute to the field.
• Academic transcript: Most recent college transcript.
• DD-214 Form 4: Required if applying as a veteran.
• Resume: Include previous employment, volunteer roles, and community service.
• Two letters of recommendation: From non-family members (e.g., employer, volunteer supervisor, or school counselor).

Deadline: Applications must be submitted by April 1 via email to shsfoundations@samhealth.org. The email subject should read: “Mullins Endowed Scholarship Committee.”

Notifications are sent in June. Funds are mailed to the recipient’s college or university—not to the recipient directly.
