The Little Bird Scholarship is designed to support LGBTQ+ immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers who are pursuing higher education in the United States. This scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to individuals who have faced significant challenges due to their immigrant status, while also recognizing their courage and resilience in overcoming barriers. The scholarship is open to both undergraduate and graduate students.

Eligibility criteria for the Little Bird Scholarship include the following:

  • Immigrant Status: Applicants must be LGBTQ+ immigrants, refugees, or asylum seekers living in the United States. This includes individuals who may not have permanent residency status or are in the process of seeking asylum or refugee status.
  • Academic Enrollment: The scholarship is open to students currently enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited post-secondary institution, including community colleges, vocational schools, undergraduate programs, and graduate programs.
  • Financial Need: Applicants must demonstrate financial need. This scholarship is intended to provide assistance to those who have limited access to financial resources.
  • LGBTQ+ Identity: Applicants must identify as LGBTQ+ or as a member of an intersex community. Students should be able to demonstrate how their identity has shaped their educational and personal journey.
  • Community Involvement: While not required, applicants who demonstrate active involvement in the LGBTQ+ community, immigrant rights advocacy, or social justice organizations will be given preference.
