Information and Eligibility:
The scholarship program hosted by the Louisiana Oil & Gas Association (through its affiliated Louisiana Gas Association scholarship fund) provides financial support to students whose parent or legal guardian is employed by an active member company of the association. The awards are designed to invest in future leaders connected to Louisiana’s energy sector, particularly the oil and gas industry, by helping juniors, seniors and graduate students in accredited institutions pursue full-time studies.
Eligibility criteria include:

  • Affiliation: Applicant must be the son, daughter or legal ward of an employee of an active member company of the Louisiana Oil & Gas/Louisiana Gas Association. The member company must be active for at least one full calendar year and work primarily (50% or more) in oil/gas transmission or distribution within the state.
  • Academic Level: Undergraduate juniors or seniors (60+ credit hours completed) or graduate students enrolled full-time at an accredited four-year U.S. college or university. Junior/senior applicants must be 25 years old or younger at the time of application; master’s applicants have no age restriction.
  • Residency/Enrollment: Applicants must be enrolled in a full-time degree-program at an accredited institution; Louisiana residency is not explicitly required if affiliation criteria are met through the company.

Application Requirements:

  • Completed scholarship application form with personal, academic and affiliation information.
  • Official or unofficial transcript verifying current enrollment/status and credit hours.
  • Résumé or personal statement describing academic achievement, leadership activities, community involvement and how the scholarship will support future goals.
  • Employee verification form completed and signed by the eligible company’s representative to confirm the parent/guardian’s employment and company status.

Selection Criteria:

  • Academic achievement and readiness for college or graduate study in the applicant’s declared program.
  • Leadership potential, extracurricular or civic involvement, and alignment of the applicant’s goals with the mission of the energy industry in Louisiana.
