Maine Blue Collar Scholarship Foundation

Name: Maine Blue Collar Scholarship Foundation Scholarship

Award Amount: $500 and $2,500

Information and Eligibility:
The Maine Blue Collar Scholarship Foundation supports motivated high-school seniors in Maine who are pursuing training or education in the skilled trades—such as welding, electrical construction, diesel mechanics, precision machining, HVAC/plumbing, building construction or other technical programs. The foundation’s mission is to “break down barriers and reinvigorate the trades that built America” by offering scholarships and tool-stipends to students entering trade schools or apprenticeships.
Eligibility criteria include:

  • Residency/State Area: Applicant must be a resident of Maine and planning to enroll in a trade-school, technical institute, apprenticeship program or other post-secondary skilled-trades training program.
  • Academic Level: Typically high-school seniors or recent graduates ready to begin full-time training in the trades.
  • Field of Study: Applicants must plan to enter a career in the trades (e.g., welding, electrical, machining, heavy equipment, CDL/truck-driver training, automotive collision repair, etc.). Award funds may be used for tuition, books, tools, uniforms, housing or other training-related expenses.

Application Requirements:

  • Completed application form provided via the Maine Blue Collar Scholarship Foundation’s website.
  • Official or unofficial high-school transcript showing graduation status or expected graduation.
  • Résumé or personal statement describing educational goals, career intentions in the trades, any relevant extracurricular or work experience and how the scholarship will support success in the field.

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated commitment to entering a trades-training program and readiness for full-time technical study.
  • Quality of the application materials, including personal statement and goals aligned with the foundation’s mission.
  • Potential to succeed in the chosen trade and contribute to Maine’s skilled-trades workforce.

Additional Details:

  • In recent years the foundation awarded more than $837,000 to recipients across Maine, via dozens of awards in a single cycle. Award amounts ranged up to $2,500 depending on the trade and applicant.
  • The foundation’s “toolship” option allows students to use funds to purchase required tools, uniforms or equipment needed in their training program.

Deadline:

  • April
