Information And Eligibility:
The Michael Jackson UNCF Scholarship Program was established by Michael Jackson to support Black students pursuing higher education in creative and communication-focused fields. Since its founding, the scholarship has helped more than 500 students access college by reducing financial barriers. Award recipients may use the scholarship funds toward tuition, textbooks, supplies, or other education-related expenses.

The program is open to incoming freshmen, current undergraduate students, and graduate students who demonstrate academic achievement, financial need, and a strong commitment to the arts or communication disciplines. Eligible majors include Art, Communications, English, Fine Arts, Mass Communications, Music, Performing Arts, Theater Arts/Drama, Vocal Performance, and Visual Arts. Students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and complete the FAFSA to be considered for funding.

In addition to academic performance, applicants should demonstrate passion and potential within their chosen field, as well as a dedication to completing their degree. The Michael Jackson UNCF Scholarship Program aims to continue Jackson’s legacy by uplifting talented students who use their creative gifts to contribute positively to their communities and industries.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be an incoming freshman, current undergraduate, or graduate student.
  • Must major in one of the following fields:
    • Art
    • Communications
    • English
    • Fine Arts
    • Mass Communications
    • Music
    • Performing Arts
    • Theater Arts/Drama
    • Vocal Performance
    • Visual Arts
  • Must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Must demonstrate financial need by submitting the FAFSA.

  • FAFSA submission to verify financial need
  • Academic transcript showing minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Documentation related to chosen major (if requested)
