Eligibility Requirements:

• Residency: Must be a resident of Illinois.
• Ethnicity: Must be a member of a minority group, including African American/Black, Hispanic American, Asian American, or Native American.
• Academic Status: Must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student at an Illinois institution of higher education.
• Course of Study: Must be pursuing a teaching degree and agree to teach in Illinois schools upon graduation.
• Academic Achievement: Must maintain satisfactory academic progress as determined by the institution.

Application Requirements:

• Complete the MTI Scholarship Program application.
• Submit official transcripts from all attended institutions.
• Provide proof of Illinois residency.
• Include a personal essay detailing commitment to teaching and serving in Illinois schools.
• Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid.

• Application Deadline: March 31

Additional Information:

• Recipients must agree to teach full-time in an Illinois school with at least 30% minority enrollment for a period equivalent to the number of years the scholarship was received.
• Failure to fulfill the teaching commitment will result in the scholarship converting to a loan, which must be repaid with interest.
