Name: Pat Nowlin Memorial Scholarship – New Mexico CowBelles

Award Amount: Two $500 scholarships for high-school seniors and two $500 scholarships for college upper-classmen or adults returning to school

Information and Eligibility:
The New Mexico CowBelles’ Pat Nowlin Memorial Scholarship is offered annually in honor of founding member and first state president Pat Nowlin. The program supports deserving CowBelle members (or their children or grandchildren) who are either high-school seniors entering college or current college students (including adults returning to school). Members of the New Mexico CowBelles organization who meet the eligibility criteria may apply to advance education in any discipline.
Eligibility criteria include:

• Membership/Affiliation: Applicant must be a current paid member of the New Mexico CowBelles (including junior members), or a child or grandchild of a New Mexico CowBelle. For college upper-classmen or returning students, membership is also required.
• Academic Level: Two awards are reserved for graduating high-school seniors; two awards are for college upper-classmen or adult students returning to higher education.
• Geographic/Organizational Connection: Applicants must be affiliated with the New Mexico CowBelles through membership, and follow the required local verification process through a local CowBelle chapter.

Application Requirements:

• Completed scholarship application form provided by the New Mexico CowBelles Scholarship Committee.
• Local verification form completed and signed by the CowBelle local chapter president and secretary.
• Official high-school transcript (for seniors) or college transcript (for upper-classmen/adults) and a recent photo.
• Applicants must show proof of membership/affiliation and submit the completed packet by the post-mark deadline.

Selection Criteria:

• Academic achievement, including high-school or college performance as shown on the transcript.
• Affiliation with New Mexico CowBelles membership and demonstrated connection to the organization.
• Completeness and accuracy of application materials, adherence to instructions and submission by the deadline.

Additional Details:

• Award checks are issued directly to recipients after proof of course enrollment is received.
• Previous recipients may re-apply, but may receive the award only one additional time.
