The scholarship program of the New Mexico Restaurant Association (NMRA) Education Foundation supports students who plan to pursue post-secondary education or training in the restaurant, food service, hospitality, or culinary arts sectors. The aim is to help build the hospitality workforce in New Mexico by investing in promising applicants committed to entry or advancement in these industries.
Eligibility criteria include:

• Residency/Service Area: Applicants must be residents of New Mexico or attend an institution in New Mexico, and show a connection to the state’s foodservice or hospitality industry.
• Academic Level: Applicants may be high school seniors entering college, or current undergraduates, or certificate-/trade-program students focused on culinary arts, hospitality management, food service operations or related fields.
• Industry Interest: Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in the restaurant/hospitality sector (for example, work experience in food service, internships, or commitment to lead/advance in hospitality).

Application Requirements:

• Completed scholarship application form available via the NMRA website under “Scholarships”.
• Official or unofficial transcript showing academic standing or recent enrollment.
• Résumé or personal statement describing applicant’s hospitality/food-service experience, educational goals, and how the scholarship will support the applicant’s career path in New Mexico’s hospitality industry.
• Letters of recommendation may be required (e.g., from employer, instructor or mentor in the hospitality/food-service field).

Selection Criteria:

• Academic achievement and preparedness for post-secondary study or training in hospitality/culinary/food service.
• Interest in and commitment to the restaurant or hospitality industry in New Mexico, such as plans to work locally, past experience, or leadership potential.
• Quality and clarity of application materials: résumé/personal statement, transcript, recommendation(s).
