Name: NEW Water Scholarship Program
Award Amount: Varies (multiple awards available)
Information And Eligibility:
The NEW Water Scholarship Program is a scholarship initiative offered by the North East Wisconsin Water Utility (NEW Water) through the New Water Works Association (NEWWA) to support students pursuing education and careers in environmental science, water resource management, civil or environmental engineering, and related fields that contribute to the sustainability and operation of public water systems. This scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate academic achievement, commitment to environmental stewardship, leadership, and a genuine interest in addressing water quality, water infrastructure, and community health.
Scholarship funds are awarded annually to eligible students from the NEW Water service area who are planning to enroll in or are currently enrolled in accredited colleges, universities, or technical programs. The awards help offset education-related costs including tuition, required fees, textbooks, and supplies. Because careers in water utilities and environmental systems are critical to public well-being and resource sustainability, this scholarship supports the development of future professionals who will contribute to the water industry’s mission of safe, reliable, and efficient water services.
Selection is based on academic performance, quality of the applicant’s personal statement or essay, volunteer or work experience related to environmental or water systems, and demonstrated leadership or extracurricular involvement. Applicants are encouraged to highlight their interest in water resources, environmental protection, or public infrastructure stewardship, and how their chosen field of study will help them positively impact their communities.
