Information And Eligibility:
The National Hispanic Health Foundation Health Professional Student Scholarship Program is a national initiative designed to support the academic and professional development of students pursuing careers in healthcare. Established to address health disparities and improve access to culturally competent care, the program focuses on identifying future healthcare leaders who are committed to serving underserved and diverse communities. Since its founding, the foundation has awarded more than $2.5 million in scholarships to hundreds of students across the United States.

The scholarship program supports students enrolled in a wide range of health professions, including medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, physician associate programs, and public health. In addition to financial support, selected scholars may participate in a structured professional mentoring program that pairs students with experienced healthcare leaders. This mentorship component is intended to guide career development, strengthen leadership skills, and support long-term success in clinical practice, research, education, or public health service.

Awards are granted in both renewable and one-time formats, depending on funding source and applicant profile. Renewable scholarships are typically reserved for students in the early stages of their academic programs, while one-time awards may support students at various points in their training. Selection is based on academic achievement, leadership potential, commitment to community service, and alignment with the foundation’s mission to improve health outcomes in underserved populations.

Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited institution in the United States and demonstrate eligibility through comprehensive application materials. Preference is often given to first-year students, reflecting the program’s emphasis on long-term professional development and sustained impact. Scholarship recipients are expected to remain in good academic standing and may be asked to participate in program-related activities or reporting.
