The NJREA Scholarship for Academic Excellence is designed to reward high school seniors who have demonstrated exceptional academic performance throughout their high school career. This scholarship honors students who have not only excelled in their coursework but have also shown a strong commitment to their education and intellectual growth. It is intended to assist these students in furthering their education at a college or university of their choice.

Eligibility for the NJREA Scholarship for Academic Excellence includes the following criteria:

• Academic Excellence: Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.8 or higher on a 4.0 scale. This scholarship is highly competitive and aims to recognize students who have achieved outstanding academic success throughout their high school education.
• Test Scores: While standardized test scores (ACT/SAT) are not mandatory, students with competitive scores will be given preference. Applicants are encouraged to submit their test scores as part of their application if applicable.
• Leadership and Extracurricular Involvement: Although academic performance is the primary focus, applicants with leadership experience and involvement in extracurricular activities such as clubs, athletics, or community service will have a stronger application.
• Postsecondary Enrollment: The scholarship is available to students who plan to enroll full-time in an accredited college or university for the upcoming academic year.
• Letters of Recommendation: Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation. One must be from a high school teacher who can speak to the student’s academic abilities and character, while the second should come from another teacher, counselor, or community leader.
• Essay: Applicants must submit an essay that reflects on their academic journey, their future educational goals, and how they plan to contribute to their field of study and society.

This scholarship provides $1,500 to assist with tuition and other educational expenses. While the award is non-renewable, it serves as an important recognition of academic achievement and helps to ease the financial burden of pursuing a college education.
