Award Amount:

  • Varies based on financial need and type of institution; awards up to $3,900 for community college students and up to $7,524 for four-year institution students.

Information and Eligibility:
The Oregon Opportunity Grant is Oregon’s largest state-funded, need-based grant program for college students. It provides funding to more than 30,000 Oregon resident students each year who are pursuing their first associate’s or bachelor’s degree at eligible public or private institutions.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Residency: Must be an Oregon resident for at least 12 months prior to college attendance and a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen.
  • Enrollment: Must be enrolled at least half-time (6+ credit-hours) at a participating Oregon-based postsecondary institution.
  • Academic Standing: Must be an undergraduate student with no prior baccalaureate degrees.
  • Financial Need: Must demonstrate financial need based on the difference between cost of attendance and student’s financial resources, including federal aid and estimated family contribution.

Application Requirements:

  • Submit the FAFSA or ORSAA as soon as possible after the application opens each year; no other application is required.
  • Ensure all information is accurate and complete to avoid processing delays.

Application Timeline:

  • Application Opens: October 1 each year.
  • Priority Consideration: Awards are made on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are depleted; early submission is highly recommended.
