PCAOB Scholars Program

Name: PCAOB Scholars Program

Award Amount: $10,000 per academic year

Information and Eligibility:

The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) administers the PCAOB Scholars Program to support undergraduate and graduate accounting students at accredited U.S. colleges and universities. Established under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, the program is funded through monetary penalties collected from PCAOB enforcement actions. Its goals are to benefit outstanding students likely to become auditors and to assist students who might otherwise pursue different career paths. Scholarships are awarded through a nomination process involving participating educational institutions.

Eligibility criteria include:

  • Enrollment Status: Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate accounting program at a U.S. college or university identified as a nominating institution by the PCAOB.
  • Academic Achievement: A minimum GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or ranking in the top third of the class is required.
  • Ethical Standards: Applicants must demonstrate high ethical standards.
  • Financial Need: Defined as eligibility to receive a Pell Grant or requiring federal financial aid for a significant portion of the cost of attendance, as determined by the institution.
  • Employment Restrictions: Applicants must not be PCAOB employees or immediate family members (spouse or child) of PCAOB employees at the time of nomination.

Deadline: Application deadlines vary by institution. Interested students should contact their institution’s financial aid or scholarship office for specific deadlines and nomination procedures.
