Eligibility Criteria:

  • Continuous residency in the City of Pittsburgh for at least the four years of high school.
  • Continuous enrollment in Pittsburgh Public Schools, including charter schools, from at least the beginning of 9th grade through graduation.
  • Graduation with a cumulative unweighted GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Maintain a minimum attendance record of 90% throughout high school.
  • Enrollment in an accredited college, university, or trade/technical school within Pennsylvania.

Application Requirements:

  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Pennsylvania State Grant Form (PHEAA) by May 1st.
  • Log in to the Promise Student Portal to apply for the scholarship, update contact information, and review eligibility status. Student log-in IDs are available from guidance counselors or by contacting The Pittsburgh Promise office at 412.281.7605.
  • Add the post-secondary institutions you have applied to within the Student Portal.

Application Timeline:

  • FAFSA and PHEAA Deadline: May 1st.
  • Scholarship Application: Accessible through the Student Portal upon receiving login credentials.
