Poultry Graduate Student Travel Grant

Name: Poultry Graduate Student Travel Grant

Award Amount: Varies

Information And Eligibility:
The Poultry Graduate Student Travel Grant is designed to support graduate students pursuing advanced research in poultry health by helping offset the costs associated with presenting scholarly work at the AAAP Annual Meeting. These grants address a common funding gap for non-veterinary graduate students who, while often able to secure support for tuition or research activities, may lack financial resources to travel and share their findings at major professional conferences.

The program is intended for students enrolled in Master of Science or Doctor of Philosophy programs whose academic and research focus aligns with poultry health, poultry science, or related disciplines. Preference is given to students who do not hold a veterinary degree and are not currently enrolled in a veterinary program. However, MS or PhD students who hold a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine or an equivalent international veterinary degree may also be considered, recognizing that these individuals may face similar limitations in accessing travel funding.

Presenting research at the AAAP Annual Meeting offers graduate students a valuable opportunity to engage with leading researchers, veterinarians, and industry professionals in poultry health. The meeting provides a platform for sharing original research, receiving expert feedback, and building professional networks that can support long-term career development. By reducing financial barriers to conference participation, the travel grant helps ensure that promising research and emerging scholars remain actively engaged in the poultry health community.

The travel grant also serves a broader workforce development goal. Poultry health relies on a diverse group of professionals, including researchers, scientists, and specialists who may not follow a traditional veterinary pathway. By supporting graduate students at this stage of their academic careers, the program encourages continued participation in poultry health research and helps strengthen the pipeline of professionals contributing to animal health, food safety, and agricultural sustainability.

Grant recipients are selected based on academic merit, relevance of their research to poultry health, and the importance of conference participation to their professional development. Funds are intended to support travel-related expenses associated with attending and presenting at the AAAP Annual Meeting.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled in a Master of Science or Doctor of Philosophy graduate program.
  • Must not be enrolled in a veterinary degree program.
  • Preference is given to applicants who do not hold a veterinary degree.
  • MS or PhD students holding a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent degree may be considered.
  • Must be conducting research related to poultry health or poultry science.

Application Requirements:

  • Completed travel grant application submitted through the designated process.
  • Documentation verifying current enrollment in an eligible graduate program.
  • Information related to the research being presented at the AAAP Annual Meeting.
  • Any additional materials required to evaluate academic merit and research relevance.
