Name: Regions Riding Forward® Scholarship Contest

Award Amount: $8,000

  • Four $8,000 scholarships are awarded each quarter (i.e., one per eligible state and category).

Information and Eligibility:

The Regions Riding Forward Scholarship Contest is hosted by Regions Bank and aims to amplify stories of personal inspiration from students in their communities. Entrants submit an essay or video about someone they know personally who has uplifted and empowered them.

Eligibility criteria include:

  • Residency: Legal U.S. resident, age 16 or older, residing in one of the eligible states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, or Texas.
  • Academic Standing: For high school seniors: cumulative GPA of at least 2.0; for college students (freshman–junior): enrolled in a nonprofit accredited university within an eligible state with at least one year or 18 semester credit hours remaining before graduation; maintain GPA 2.0 or “good standing.”

Application Process
The contest runs four times in the year, with separate entry periods each calendar quarter. Each quarter one winner is selected from written essay entries and one from video essay entries:

  • Essay or Video Topic: Describe a person in your community who personally inspired you and gave you confidence to pursue your goals. Video entries must be under 3 minutes.
  • Submission: Submit via the official Regions University platform during the assigned quarterly window. Only one entry per person per quarter.

Deadline:

  • 1st Quarter: March 31
  • 2nd Quarter: June 30
  • 3rd Quarter: September 30
  • 4th Quarter: December 31

Winners are notified approximately two months after each deadline. Regions awards one $8,000 prize for a written essay and one $8,000 prize for a video essay in each eligible state per quarter, aiming to award four scholarships per quarter nationwide.
