Name: Ride of Your Life Scholarship – South Carolina State Fair

Award Amount: $10,000 per recipient

Information and Eligibility:
The Ride of Your Life Scholarship, sponsored by the South Carolina State Fair, awards scholarships to South Carolina high school seniors who demonstrate academic achievement, extracurricular involvement, effective communication skills and financial need. The scholarship supports full-time enrollment at any accredited public or private college, university or technical college in South Carolina.
Eligibility criteria include:

• Residency: Applicant must be a legal resident of South Carolina.
• Academic Level: High school senior graduating from a public, private or home school in South Carolina.
• Enrollment: Applicant must plan to attend full-time at a public or private college, university or technical college in South Carolina.
• Communication & Achievement: Applicants are evaluated on academic record, communication skills and the completeness of the application.

Application Requirements:

• Completed Ride of Your Life Scholarship application form as provided by the South Carolina State Fair.
• Official or unofficial high school transcript documenting academic performance.
• Résumé or summary of extracurricular activities, leadership, service and goals.

Selection Criteria:

• Academic achievement (GPA and coursework) and readiness for college.
• Extracurricular involvement, leadership and communication effectiveness.
• Demonstrated financial need and completion of the application process.

Additional Details:

• The scholarship awards are paid out at a rate of $2,500 per year over four years (for those pursuing four-year degrees) and up to two years for those in technical/associate programs.
• In 2025, 53 recipients were chosen statewide for these awards.
