Information and Eligibility:

The RISE Financial Literacy Scholarship, offered by the CORE Scholars Foundation, provides financial assistance to Philadelphia students who demonstrate financial need and complete required financial literacy training. The program is designed to reduce educational expenses while equipping students with critical money management skills for long-term success.

In addition to the monetary award, recipients benefit from structured training through FDIC MoneySmart modules and CORE financial workshops, which help build skills in budgeting, saving, credit management, and responsible borrowing. The scholarship can be used toward tuition, fees, housing, books, or other approved academic-related expenses.

Eligibility criteria include:

• Residency: Applicants must be residents of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
• Enrollment: Open to graduating high school seniors and full-time students enrolled in an accredited college, university, trade school, or two- or four-year degree program.
• Citizenship: Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
• Financial Need: Household income must be at or below 200% of the national poverty level, with some non-federal income present in the household.
• Program Requirements: Must complete 8 FDIC MoneySmart financial literacy units, attend at least two CORE workshops, and have a minimum outstanding balance of $2,500 in eligible educational expenses.
