Name: Rockefeller State Wildlife Scholarship

Award Amount:

  • Undergraduate Students: $2,000 annually.
  • Graduate Students: $3,000 annually.
  • Maximum Cumulative Award: Up to $12,000 (covering up to three years of undergraduate study and two years of graduate study).

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Citizenship: U.S. citizen, national, or eligible non-citizen; must be registered with Selective Service if required.
  • Residency: Louisiana resident for at least one year prior to July 1 of the scholarship award year.
  • Enrollment Status: Full-time undergraduate or graduate student at a Louisiana public college or university, majoring in forestry, wildlife, or marine science with the intent to obtain a degree in that field.
  • Academic Requirements:
    • Undergraduate Students: Must have earned at least 60 hours of college credit with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50.
    • Graduate Students: Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 on all graduate coursework.

Renewal Requirements:

  • Duration: Scholarship awarded for up to five academic years (three undergraduate and two graduate).
  • Credit Hours: Earn at least 24 credit hours during the fall, winter, and spring terms (or 18 credit hours for graduate students) at institutions defining full-time status.
  • GPA Maintenance: Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.50 as an undergraduate or 3.00 as a graduate student at the end of each academic year.
  • Continuous Enrollment: Maintain continuous enrollment as a full-time student unless granted an exception by LOSFA.
  • Field of Study: Continue pursuing a degree in wildlife, forestry, or marine science.

Application Process:

  • Complete the FAFSA: Submit by July 1 preceding the academic year you wish to be considered.
  • Submit the Rockefeller State Wildlife Scholarship Application: Ensure it is received by LOSFA by July 1 immediately before the academic year you wish to be considered. If submitted by December 1, eligibility may be extended to the spring semester if funds are available.
  • Official Transcript: Include an official college transcript that includes your most recent semester.

  • Application Deadline: July 1 for the academic year you wish to apply for (for spring semester, application must be submitted by December 1 if funds are available).

Additional Information:

  • Repayment Obligation: Recipients must graduate with a degree in one of the approved majors. Failure to do so may result in the award converting to a repayable loan.
