The SC HOPE Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship for first-time freshmen attending a four-year public or private institution in South Carolina. It is designed to provide financial assistance to students who do not qualify for the LIFE or Palmetto Fellows Scholarships.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Must be a South Carolina resident at the time of high school graduation and during the scholarship award period.
• Must be a first-time freshman attending a four-year public or private college or university in South Carolina.
• Earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 based on the SC Uniform Grading Scale at the time of high school graduation.
• Homeschooled students are eligible if they meet the GPA requirement.

• No separate application is required.
• Eligibility is determined by the institution based on official high school transcripts.

Application Timeline:

• Eligibility is reviewed as part of the admissions and financial aid process for incoming freshmen.

Additional Information:

• The SC HOPE Scholarship is a one-year scholarship and is non-renewable.
• Recipients can become eligible for the LIFE Scholarship in their second year if they meet the renewal requirements, including earning at least 30 credit hours and maintaining a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
