The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers Scholarships offers a valuable opportunity for young creative minds looking to pursue higher education in the arts. The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers is a nonprofit organization that administers the prestigious Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, which celebrate student achievement in the visual and literary arts. The organization partners with leading art and design colleges, such as the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design, to offer scholarship opportunities for students interested in furthering their creative careers.
At the regional level, award-winning seniors have access to more than $3.5 million in scholarships from local institutions. Nationally, $10,000 scholarships are awarded to 15 graduating seniors who earn Portfolio Gold Medals in categories such as Art, Photography, General Writing, and Nonfiction. Additionally, a select number of Portfolio Silver Medalists will receive $1,000 Notable Achievement Awards. Beyond monetary awards, seniors who earn Portfolio Gold Medals or Portfolio Silver Medals can also qualify for partial to full-ride scholarships from a network of over 60 art universities and institutions, which annually offer $3.9 million in financial aid.

Applicants must submit their artwork or writing to the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards to be eligible for consideration. Portfolio Gold and Silver Medalists are selected based on the quality of their submissions. In addition to the national scholarships, students may be eligible for local scholarships provided by partnering institutions.
