  • Enroll full-time or part-time at an approved, accredited college in New York State in a master’s or doctoral program in nursing or a related field that qualifies you to work as nursing faculty or adjunct clinical faculty.
  • Maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher if you have already completed a semester in the qualifying graduate program.
  • Be in good standing on any existing student loans and in compliance with the terms of any previous New York State awards.

Application Process:

  • Complete and submit the Senator Patricia K. McGee Nursing Faculty Scholarship Application, available on the New York State Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC) website.
  • File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) application or the NYS DREAM Act application each year for payment.
  • Provide any additional documentation as requested by HESC to verify eligibility.

Service Agreement:

The interest rate will be fixed and equal to that set annually by the U.S. Department of Education for federal Family Loan Program PLUS Loans at the time the service contract is signed.
