Name: Soroptimist Live Your Dream Award
Award Amount: $1,000 to $16,000
Information And Eligibility:
The Soroptimist Live Your Dream Award is a need-based education grant created to support women who are the primary financial providers for their families and are working to improve their lives through education or skills training. Administered by Soroptimist International, a global volunteer organization focused on advancing the lives of women and girls, this award is specifically designed for women who face significant financial barriers while balancing work, school, and family responsibilities.
Unlike traditional academic scholarships, the Live Your Dream Award recognizes the realities many women face when returning to school or pursuing new training later in life. Award funds are intentionally flexible and may be used to cover a wide range of education-related and living expenses, including tuition, books, certification fees, childcare, transportation, housing, utilities, and medical costs. This flexibility allows recipients to address the real-world challenges that often prevent women from completing their education.
Eligible applicants must be women who provide the primary financial support for themselves and at least one dependent. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and be enrolled in, or accepted into, an undergraduate degree program or vocational or technical skills training program. The award is open to women pursuing education at accredited colleges, universities, or approved vocational institutions. Applicants may not already hold a graduate-level degree.
The Soroptimist Live Your Dream Award is offered through local Soroptimist clubs in participating member countries. Applications are first reviewed at the local club level, with top recipients advancing to regional and international award levels, where higher award amounts are available. Because of this tiered structure, individual award amounts vary, with some recipients receiving up to $16,000 in total support.
Recipients of the Live Your Dream Award often include single mothers, survivors of domestic violence, women overcoming economic hardship, and women reentering the workforce after career interruptions. Beyond financial assistance, many recipients gain encouragement, mentorship, and community support through their local Soroptimist clubs, further strengthening their path toward long-term economic stability.
This award has helped tens of thousands of women worldwide pursue education, increase earning potential, and create better futures for themselves and their families. For women who are determined to achieve independence through education despite financial challenges, the Soroptimist Live Your Dream Award represents one of the most impactful support programs available.
