The South Dakota Opportunity Scholarship is a merit-based program designed to support high-achieving students from South Dakota who attend eligible postsecondary institutions in the state. This scholarship provides up to $6,500 over four years to help cover tuition costs, particularly for students pursuing degrees in critical workforce areas. The program encourages students to excel academically and contribute to South Dakota’s economy.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be a South Dakota resident.
• Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in high school.
• Score at least a 24 on the ACT (or SAT equivalent).
• Complete the required high school curriculum as defined by the South Dakota Board of Regents.
• Enroll full-time at an eligible South Dakota public or private college or university.
• Demonstrate intent to pursue a degree in a critical workforce area, if applicable.

Application Requirements:

• Submit a completed application through the South Dakota Opportunity Scholarship portal.
• Provide official high school transcripts and ACT or SAT scores.
• Submit proof of enrollment in an eligible postsecondary institution.
