Stegall Charitable Educational Foundation Scholarship

Name: Stegall Charitable Educational Foundation Scholarship

Award Amount: $1,000 per semester (up to two semesters per year)

Information And Eligibility:
The Stegall Charitable Educational Foundation Scholarship is a need-based academic assistance program offered by the Stegall Charitable Educational Foundation to support Tennessee residents and students planning to attend colleges and universities in Tennessee. The scholarship provides financial support for students entering full-time study for the fall or spring semester, with awards granted on a per-semester basis. This structure allows recipients to receive support for up to two semesters within a single academic year, helping to cover essential educational expenses such as tuition, fees, room and board, and books and materials. The foundation’s mission is to reduce financial barriers for students who demonstrate both academic commitment and financial need, promoting access to higher education and opportunity in the region.

Applicants are evaluated based on academic performance, financial need, academic standing, and commitment to service and future goals. The foundation gives preferential consideration to applicants who have demonstrated willingness to serve the public through past civic involvement and, secondarily, to those who express an interest in pursuing legal careers, although students in all fields are eligible. Because awards are made each semester, recipients must demonstrate ongoing academic progress and enrollment status to continue receiving funds.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must reside in Tennessee or be applying to a Tennessee college or university.
  • Must be a high school senior, recent graduate, or current undergraduate student entering a full-time program of study.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.
  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of at least 2.8 for incoming freshmen (or ACT equivalent) and 3.0 for continuing college students.
  • Must maintain full-time enrollment status except where part-time enrollment is necessary to complete a degree.
  • Must be in good academic standing (no academic suspensions).

Application Requirements:

  • Completed Stegall Charitable Educational Foundation Scholarship application (downloadable from the foundation’s website).
  • Official academic transcript verifying GPA and enrollment status.
  • Documentation of financial need as required by the foundation.
  • Evidence of community service or civic involvement (if required for preference).
  • Any additional materials requested by the foundation’s scholarship committee.

Additional Details:

  • Scholarship funds are distributed per semester and can be renewed each term based on continued eligibility and academic progress.
  • Funds may be applied toward tuition, fees, room and board, books, and required materials.
  • Applicants with documented community service or stated interest in legal careers may receive preference.
  • Decisions and disbursement schedules are typically coordinated with the academic calendar and the foundation’s review process.

Deadline:

  • July 1 for Fall Semester
  • December 1 for Spring Semester
