Award Amount:

  • Four-Year Institutions: Up to $2,250 per semester for freshmen and sophomores, and $2,850 per semester for juniors and seniors.
  • Two-Year Institutions: Up to $1,600 per semester for all students.

Information And Eligibility:
The Tennessee HOPE Scholarship, funded by the state lottery, provides financial assistance to Tennessee residents pursuing higher education. Designed to reward academic achievement, the scholarship aims to make college more accessible and affordable for Tennessee students. It is available to recent high school graduates enrolling in eligible postsecondary institutions within 16 months of graduation.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a Tennessee resident for at least one year prior to the application date.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  • Must graduate from a Tennessee eligible high school.
  • Must enroll in an eligible postsecondary institution within 16 months after high school graduation.
  • Meet at least one of the following academic criteria:
    • Minimum 21 ACT score (or concordant SAT score).
    • Minimum 3.0 unweighted cumulative GPA in high school.
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress in college, including a minimum GPA of 2.75 after 24 credit hours and 3.0 after 48 credit hours.

Application Process:

  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the established deadline.
  • Ensure enrollment in an eligible postsecondary institution within 16 months of high school graduation.
  • Monitor your HOPE Scholarship eligibility through the Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation (TSAC) Student Portal.

Additional Details:

  • The scholarship is renewable for up to five years, or until the student earns a bachelor’s degree, whichever comes first.
  • Students transferring to another eligible institution may retain the scholarship, provided they meet renewal criteria.
  • Scholarship recipients must not be in default on any federal student loan or owe a refund on any state or federal grant program.

Deadline: The FAFSA must be submitted by July 1 of the academic year for which the student is seeking aid.
